+Współcześni londyńczycy o polskich korzeniach dzielą się swoimi pierwszymi wspomnieniami, naczęściej z 50-tych i 60-tych lat XX wieku. Wymieszane są one ze świadectwem trudów wojennych podróży własnych rodziców. Z kolei ich nastoletnie życie wypełnione było tradycją i umacnianie polskości i być może było remedium na ciągły brak opcji powrotu rodzin do kraju. To, co nieosiągalne dla rodziców, w latach 70-tych zaczęło być dostępne dla ich dzieci, które przyjechały do ojczystego kraju żeby go lepiej poznać, wróciły z tych wakacji z nowo nabytą tożsamością. Nie zostały w Polsce, bo ich korzenie były już zapuszczone w innej ojczyźnie.

+Contemporary Londoners of Polish descent share their earliest memories, most often from the 1950s and 1960s. These are mixed with testimonies of the wartime hardships of their parents' journeys. Meanwhile, their teenage lives were filled with tradition and strengthening Polish identity, perhaps as a remedy for the constant lack of options for their families to return to their homeland. What was unattainable for the parents began to become available for their children in the 1970s, who went to their ancestral country to get to know it better, and returned from those vacations with a newly acquired identity. They did not stay in Poland because their roots were already established in another homeland.

+Prowadzony przez [[authors:start#marta-sordyl|Martę Sordyl]] projekt obejmował ustne historie diaspory polskiej, archiwizowane w Instytucie Bishopsgate, mapę dziedzictwa polskiego, wydarzenia społecznościowe, spacery, projekty fotograficzne, wystawę, podcast i animację teatru cieni. Projekt zyskał wsparcie polskich instytucji kultury i został nazwany przez uczestników //Local Heroes Archive//.

The project gained support from Polish cultural institutions and was named by participants //The Local Heroes Archive//.
